Mater 70 lbs, 4 y.o hunky marshmallow with muscles, wiggles, & a heart of gold. Found as a stray at our local shelter, no one ever came looking for him.He passed temperament testing,& has a solid sit. He is strong on leash & full of joyful chaos, so a dog-proofed home is important for this zoomies-loving guy. He can be a bit much for other dogs, so any canine sibling would need to be the right match. Older, sturdy kids would be best for his enthusiastic affection.	Elaine (Lainey) This sweet girl(3y.o) was found as a stray & arrived very underweight (~37lbs), but her spirit was never broken. She may be skin & bones right now, but she is full of personality, wiggles, & heart. She already knows how to sit & proudly offers a paw, especially if snacks are involved. She has a playful, silly side & is happy to show it off once she feels comfortable. She is dog friendly & would do best in a home with older kids.	Miles an adorable 10 m.o pup who is ready to steal hearts. He’s a petite 37lbs with striking eyes and beautiful markings. He is sweet, friendly, & smart, knows sit & down, patiently waits for his meals, & has no resource guarding reported. He's said to be good with other dogs & we will continue to learn more about him. Cats are unknown. He's up to date on vaccines, being treated for a mild skin infection,& is scheduled to be neutered. He is currently in boarding waiting for his forever home.
Sibel a 6-year-old sweetheart who lost her person & everything she knew.She is gentle, loving, & quietly grateful for every bit of kindness she’s shown.She’s currently healing from a skin infection but her skin is already improving.Sibel is affectionate, calm, and well-mannered. She enjoys attention, knows sit and paw, is generally quiet, and does well with the right dog match. She simply wants to feel safe again.She’s spayed, vaccinated, & microchipped.	Espresso An 8-month-old girl who is looking for foster or foster-to-adopt home. She was left behind with another pup (Peppermint) at a property when shelter space was unavailable & is now safe in temporary boarding. She already knows sit and shows great potential for training. Our volunteers continue to work on her commands & leash training so she can thrive. As always we love when our puppies can go to a home with another well trained dog who can show them the ropes.	Honey (fka Elphaba) is a 6m.o puppy with the sweetest soul. She is a timid girl, looking for a loving home where she can continue to build confidence & feel safe.She is smart, eager to learn, & already crate trained & housebroken. Honey enjoys walks and outings, which are great opportunities for continued socialization & helping her blossom into a confident young dog. She'd be happy as the only dog or with a compatible canine companion(non female pit preferred). She has also done well with kids.
Vienna A gorgeous girl who will be turning one very soon, and she’s the perfect blend of sweet and sassy. She’s friendly, affectionate, and loves being around her people, with just a hint of playful sass that makes her extra charming.She thrives on routine and structure and does best when she knows what’s expected of her. Vienna is crate trained, fully housebroken, and dog-friendly. While she hasn’t been tested with cats, a home with older kids would be the best fit.	Butchy A 3y.o pittie mix who is UTD on vaccines, neutered & microchipped looking to start the new year with a family of his own. He LOVES his toys and proudly parades them on walks like he’s delivering gifts door to door. He’s easy on leash, curious, and has earned the nickname “Puddin’” because he’s pure, cozy sweetness.Butchy would thrive in a home that can offer slow intros if another dog is present. He’s not cat-friendly, and due to his size, he’s best matched with kids 10+.	Zuko A gentle, soulful boy who’s finally getting the chance to exhale. Currently in foster, he arrived safely after leaving behind a very difficult past, & he’s already showing everyone just how sweet &resilient he is. He’s incredibly gentle with treats & has an easy, affectionate nature that shines. Zuko is dog-friendly, not cat-friendly, and is up to date on vaccines. For now, he’s warm, safe, and embracing this new beginning and looking for his forever home.
Mac 1-year-old, 62 lb Merle Pittie mix who turns heads everywhere he goes. Mac is a friendly, intelligent young dog who’s eager to learn & full of potential. He knows sit & down, is very food motivated, & thrives with clear structure & consistency. He will benefit from a strong leader who can provide the guidance & boundaries he needs to shine. Mac did okay on his dog test, but slow introductions are recommended. No cats & older kids would be best.	Pebbles 5-year-old, 42 lb sweetheart with a petite frame & a big heart.She loves people and greets everyone with endless kisses. Pebbles is food-motivated, eager to learn, and walks beautifully on leash. Pebbles would do best as your one and only pet, where she can soak up all the love and attention she’s been waiting for.	Chessie 4-year-old brindle beauty, She’s loving, playful, and happiest when she’s leaning in for snuggles. She would do best in a home with children 10 years or older and without cats. She should avoid chew toys since she tends to get a little too excited about them, and she’ll need slow introductions with other dogs due to her high energy. She’ll thrive with someone who can provide ongoing training
Apple This 7-month-old petite beauty comes with a big personality. She’s smart, sweet, and full of playful puppy energy. Apple already knows her sit command, walks nicely on leash, and loves to learn. She’s dog-friendly and would do best with a confident canine companion who doesn’t mind a lively little sister. Apple is mostly housebroken and working on her crate manners. With a patient, committed adopter to guide her, this special girl is sure to blossom into something amazing.	Major This handsome 3–4-y.o boy was found as a stray in a NJ city, but no one ever came looking for him. He’s sweet, gentle & pretty low-key though his body shows signs of neglect, but he’s already feeling better thanks to some TLC. Major has done great at events, loves events and is always rolling over for belly rubs. He's said to be dog-friendly, but we’ll be testing further. He's in boarding while waiting for a foster or forever family.	Capri She is 2 1/2 years old and is 47 lbs. Capri is crate trained, housebroken, and quiet. She passed her temperament testing with both cats and dogs, though she currently feels safest as the only pet. She can be nervous around new people. She does come around with patience and letting her be. Capri needs a patient, experienced home willing to help rebuild trust that is adult only home.
Bella This sweet 11-year-old girl has passed all her temperament testing with flying colors! Bella is friendly, gentle, and still has some pep in her step. She’s great with older kids and doesn’t mind calm dogs who respect her age. She loves a cozy, fluffy bed and is currently in a foster home while we search for her forever family to help her enjoy her golden years in comfort and love.	Jax This guy is 5 year old Lab mix with the sweetest face & an even sweeter heart. He came in as a stray wearing a collar with his birthday on it, but no one ever came to claim him. Jax is a total lovebug who lights up when he sees his people. He enjoys walks, has great manners, & knows his basic commands. He’s a fetch pro, loves attention, & just wants to be part of a family. He’d do best in a home without cats or young kids, but he’s friendly with female dogs & eager to please.	Willow Willow is a 6 month tan pittie pup with the sweetest little face and a heart to match. She's a wonderful puppy without the chaotic puppy energy when she's alone. She knows basic commands, is house broken & crate trained. A friendly, playful male may be a great match or she could thrive alone. Training lessons are included with her adoption.
Sheba Sheba is just 4 years old and came to us in heartbreaking condition—having lost nearly half her body weight in only a few months. Thanks to fast action from AHS Newark and the support of our board members, she is now safe and starting her road to recovery. She's been doing amazing in her foster home and at events loving everyone (including other dogs) that she meets. She is crate trained, housebroken & walks amazing on leash.	Gemma Gemma is a gentle 2 year old sweetie with soulful eyes and a soft nature. After months in her foster home learning to trust again, she is so ready for a forever family. Gemma loves cozy blankets, quiet naps, learning new tricks and playtime. She shines in a calm home as the only pet and thrives with patient, loving humans who understand her shy side. Give her time, love, structure and she'll reward you with unwavering companionship.	Finn This little warrior was found in a cardboard box on 100 F day in Newark and is now showing everyone the survivor he is. He is ~8 m.o & a joy who loves everyone he meets, even other dogs! He is super smart & loves just being around his foster fam or playing with toys independently. Finn is UTD on vaccines, neutered and looking for his forever home!
Chrissy AKA Christmas is a senior gal who was surrendered with her housemate pebbles(who we also pulled). At 47 lbs she is a sweetheart who enjoys light walks, people watching, & doing her signature bunny hop. Shy at first but warms up quickly. She does well with other dogs and thrives in calm, adult-only homes.Spayed, microchipped, housebroken, and crate trained, Chrissy is ready to start her next chapter with a family who will adore her golden years.	Carson Carson is 6 years young, housetrained, non-destructive, & listens incredibly well. He is a well mannered gentleman when it comes to taking treats, food or toys. He was surrender with his housemate (Melony), but would do best as the only dog.	Nala Nala is a 2-year-old pit/lab mix who’s smart, affectionate, and full of playful energy. She’s crate trained, housebroken, and loves fetch, walks, and giving kisses. Her adoption fee is sponsored—she’s just waiting for her perfect match!
Dempsey a 3½-year-old heart-stealer with brains, beauty,& manners to match. This smart boy has flourished in foster care & is now ready to find his forever person someone confident, consistent,& ready to let him shine. He thrives with structure and clear leadership. He is friendly with both dogs and cats, and he loves adventures like hiking, running, and car rides. Best suited for an adult home; he is housebroken, crate trained, non-destructive, and fully trained, always eager to show off his skills.	DOZER This handsome boy is about 2 years old . He has been staying with one of our volunteers and is working on being the perfect pup. He is very smart and loves treats. He is super playful with typical puppy energy. Dozer loves playing catch and running around in the yard. He must be the only pet in the home and is recommended with older kids.
